SPSV Test Ireland: prepare for the Taxi Driver Entry Test
The NTA SPSV Driver Entry Test is a licensing step for people seeking to drive taxis, hackneys or limousines in Ireland. TPI separates the two test modules—Industry Knowledge and Area Knowledge—so you can study each one properly. The test has two modules
NTA describes the Driver Entry Test as two parts taken on the same day: the Industry Knowledge Module and the Area Knowledge Module. Treat them as different subjects instead of one giant question list.
Industry Knowledge
Industry Knowledge covers the rules and good-practice knowledge needed when providing SPSV services to the public. The NTA's Official Manual for Operating in the SPSV Industry is the core official textbook for this module.
Area Knowledge
Area Knowledge focuses on the important local knowledge expected of an SPSV driver. NTA's revised approach places less emphasis on memorising specific routes and street names and more emphasis on knowing popular and important locations.
Use practice after studying
Read the material first, then use practice to identify weak areas. Normal TPI Practice teaches after you submit an answer; Smart Practice is deliberately faster; Mock Tests save the teaching until the end.
